PapaG Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Are you confusing Oregon with Oregon State in terms of recruiting? Obviously you must be. Yes, OSU has better recruits than every BIG school with the exception of Ohio State. OSU at Michigan on Sept 12. I'll take the Pac-12 school in that one. How about you?

utenation Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 From 2002-2014(Rivals) Michigan had an average recruiting ranking of 13. This is with multiple coaching changes.. I would definitely consider this pretty elite and OSU has been nowhere near..Without looking, I'm sure the amount of kids to the NFL in the same time period is lop sided as well..

All Hail Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Wow. I had no idea that fans in the Pac-12 North are so down on their teams. You don't even believe that your recruits are better than the recruits of the pathetic Big-10. SMH By the way, I just looked at last year's Michigan roster: 2 from Florida 0 from Texas 1 from California (not including the Kicker) Michigan doesn't appear to be winning many recruiting battles these days against elite recruiting powerhouses like UCLA, USC, Ohio State, Florida, and Alabama. We aren't down, we are capable of logic and reason. There is a reason every single poster who has decided to participate in this discussion has sided against you. You nitpick minor points and ignore glaring trends, such as Michigan's #12 recruiting ranking over a 12 year span. This supersedes your made-up theory of only schools recruiting from Florida, Texas, and California are capable of creating a power house. Ohio State won the BCS playoffs with predominantly mid-west recruits and they might do so again next year. Their top two impact players were their QB (from Cleveland) and their RB (From Missouri.) Look at Alabama's roster. They have far more players from Georgia than they do from Florida and the vast majority of their players come from Alabama. I really don't think you've thought this through that well. http://www.rolltide.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/alab-m-footbl-mtt.html LSU has almost an entire team of players from Louisiana. http://www.lsusports.net/SportSelect.dbml?SPSID=27812&SPID=2164 I hope you get the point by now.

I'm shocked, shocked I tell you!
Orange Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Yes, I think OSU recruits are better than the recruits of every BIG school, with the exception of Ohio State. Pac-12 schools are willing to play any school in the P5. We take on all comers. BIG schools, on the other hand, do their best to avoid playing P5 schools. What is your opinion of Cal? Don't you believe Cal recruits are better than the recruits of any BIG school? lol wut???
Orange Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Jesus. Someone's trolling. Gotta be. If we've been getting better recruits than Michigan and Penn State, then Mike Riley was a dogshit coach, and NFL GMs everywhere are about as smart as golden retrievers for overlooking such possible NFL greats as Sean Canfield and Ken Simonton!
Sparky Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I can't believe I am defending Pac-12 North schools from the very fans who root for them. I had to check to make sure I wasn't posting on a Big-10 board. LOL Your teams are really good!!! They can compete with most every school in the Big 10. Trust Me!!!

You make it sound like Michigan & Penn State have been successful on the field over the last 20 years. They suck!!! Everybody knows it! Look at the records.

I had to check to make sure I wasn't posting on a Big-10 board. LOL Your teams are really good!!! They can compete with most every school in the Big 10. Trust Me!!! I highly suggest you start watching college football. It's a sport with great tradition, amazing rivalries, and some of the most passionate fans in the world. Unlike the NFL, college football players don't make money but they are granted free tuition if they are able to obtain a scholarship to a university. There are different rules in College Football when compared to the NFL such as how Overtime and how time time is kept. There is no 2 minute warning in college football but the clock does stop until the ball is set after a first down.
Sparky Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I just looked it up. Cal and Oregon State each have more players on current NFL rosters than either Michigan or Penn State. Stand tall Pac-12 North fans!!! LOL
PapaG Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Michigan has 27 on active rosters. http://espn.go.com/nfl/college/_/letter/m Oregon State has 18 on active rosters. http://espn.go.com/nfl/college/_/letter/o Penn State has 26 on active rosters. http://espn.go.com/nfl/college/_/letter/p San Diego State has 12 on active rosters. http://espn.go.com/nfl/college/_/letter/p This must be another sockpuppet from that San Diego State fan who seems to be deluded to the point of psychosis. Either that, or "Sparky" is a world-class idiot who is an ASU fan. I just looked it up. Cal and Oregon State each have more players on current NFL rosters than either Michigan or Penn State. Stand tall Pac-12 North fans!!! LOL
KUGRDON Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Let's be kind to Sparky and assume he just got a bit exuberant in talking up the PAC. Obviously the odds of success, both relative and absolute, are greater in Madison than Corvallis and no one should need to research and post obscure recruiting statistics for that to be evident. Just as obviously, Anderson encountered serious obstacles and/or irritants in Madison. I think he will be good for OSU, and together with Tinkle in basketball and the football assistants, signals the greatest coaching upgrade in the PAC in some time.

Sparky Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Dear fans of the Pac-12 North, I'm sorry I defended the quality of players at your football programs. I promise I won't let it happen again. Sincerely, Sparky Go Devils!
glduck Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 eh... sparky, your list is generating plenty of practice squad players that no longer play in the nfl. tj houshmanzadeh, for instance, hasn't played in the nfl since oakland, in 2011. sabby piscitelli, who you have as an active nfl player, now wrestles in the WWE. i'm sure there are others. the problem with trying to stay "current" with nfl almuni and using practice squad players is that whatever website you got these from clearly doesn't update when a player is cut/retires/whatever. all hail is using active roster participants, which by any metric is the way to go.
Sparky Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 tj houshmanzadeh, for instance, hasn't played in the nfl since oakland, in 2011. sabby piscitelli, who you have as an active nfl player, now wrestles in the WWE. I did not count those guys in my totals because they are listed as Free Agents.
All Hail Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I did not count those guys in my totals because they are listed as Free Agents. I'm still waiting to see how you're going to tie this back to your original point, or have you already forgotten it? Somehow, Wisconsin having more NFL talent, more wins, more Rose Bowls, and playing in an easier conference is the reason why Gary Anderson thinks he has a better chance at winning a national championship at Oregon State.
Sparky Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Nobody here can claim that they can get inside Anderson's head for the reason of why he left Wisconsin. This is all just speculation. The same goes for the guy that was head coach before Anderson, Bret Bielema, leaving Wisconsin for Arkansas. It's all speculation on this board.
