This could be big for mobile gaming.  If Google loses the appeals, that could mean Steam, Epic, and Xbox games could be on Android tablets before long.  My 2022 iPad Air is a solid gaming device with a controller paired.  I think it is only a matter of time before Apple is forced to open up their platform.

I play lots of indie games especially metroidvanias and rogue type of games in addition to boomer shooters running on the same engines that powered Quake & Duke Nukem in the '90's.  Might as well call me a '90's type of gamer in that case.  The recent Doom 1 & 2 refresh from Nightdive Studios appears to be really good as you can easily use mods and wads.  I also love the smaller install sizes of said games since they range from 1-10 GB as opposed to 50-100 GB for modern AAA games.

I have my eyes on the ASUS ROG Ally Z1 handheld (the cheaper one that is $500 at Best Buy but often sees sales that takes it down to $400).  The Lenovo Legion Go is also under serious consideration and I like the idea of being able to replace those detachable controllers if the need arises.  I have removed my first party Nintendo titles from my Switch to see if I can just stick with Nintendo for handheld gaming when the Switch's successor comes out.  Nintendo Switch Online with those older Nintendo games plus indie games is something I can really get behind.  A laptop with a good iGPU is another consideration with those older Ryzen APUs.

Sports games and GTA is about all I have time for.  Glad I read the awful reviews of FC25 before I gave EA another $60 of wasted money for the same product they released the year before and the year before that, etc.  The only thing new is the updated rosters.  EA been screwing over consumers for a decade at least.

I was able to get three to almost four years out of Madden NFL 21 after getting rid of my PS3 & 360 consoles for the newer ones which had NCAA FB 14 on it.  I'm moving towards just one college football game per console and I am not planning on getting new CFB games for the rest of this current console generation.  I had warned people to not expect the same quality & polish as the past NCAA FB games and it looks like I have been right along.  Despite this, I got CFB 25 and have been enjoying it and will get Madden NFL 25 at a discounted rate around the Super Bowl so I can take my created player to the NFL.

I think CFB 25 will be on sale around the time of the CFP like Madden goes on sale around the Super Bowl.

If you have EA Play, you can do a 10 hour trail of the game instead of relying on reviews for your purchase decisions.

Game over: this is why the gaming industry is dying | Invezz

Article talks about how the videogame industry is dying or perhaps shrinking and how AI could save the gaming industry.

Minecraft and No Man's Sky are mentioned as games that AI has been able to create endless gaming worlds/universes and I can only imagine what AI could do for an open world RPG like Zelda, making classic Doom WADs, racing games, city building games, golf games, you name it.

I have enjoyed games like Dead Cells, Gunfire Reborn, and Minecraft.

It's going to be interesting to see if Nintendo prevails in its lawsuit against Palworld because I believe Palworld's monsters were made using AI.

 I never really considered any of that. I always just streamed from the XBOX to my tablet when I wanted to play away from home.

But there is some functionality missing, do it will interesting to see if an ungimped app would better replicate the home console experience.

NCAA 25 is good, but the read option controls keep messing me up. In 2014 (and Madden games as well), if you want to hand off the ball, you press the button. If you want to keep, you don't press the button. In 2025, they reversed the damn controls for some reason. And I loved running the triple option. But just running a read option, I keep screwing up hold or hand off, and get tackled for a loss. It otherwise runs really well, though.

I watched a streamer play the remake of Silent Hill 2. She's a big horror fan, be it games, films, whatever. She also played the original. And said the remake was awesome.

I got CFB25, tried playing a few times and I'm rusty AF.  Got my ass kicked my NMSU 77-7.  Need to find time to go through the training drills lol

I feel your pain about the read option.

I lost track how many times I got pick sixed in the game too but that weirdly has made CFB 25 more enjoyable for me.

Passing is a steep learning curve. Ball placement is super important. If you're using revamped passing, L1/LB for a high throw (so LBs don't just grab it out of the air) and L2/LT for ball placement (outside, back shoulder, underneath).

This ! I get the game every year because of the updated rosters but the whole bullshit with the Italian teams not being real, Brazil having a bunch of fake players on their national team , taking leagues out of the game (I'm in Japan and I want my J League back) just kind of makes me meh. I always have my wife get it for me for Xmas so I don't spend money on it but I still enjoy playing it. I wish they'd add more leagues and when they do a WC just make a separate game so I can play as whatever national team in the world I want and try and qualify

Yeah basically all you're paying for is updated rosters.  The last one I bought was FIFA 23.  It's good enough.  I'll just play that and update my own rosters.  Right now I have taken Leyton Orient from League 2 into the CL in 3 years lmao

Funny story, a friend of mine knows Leyton Orient's owner. I don't know the guy, never met him but they apparently met when the owner was living in Miami in the 90's. He used to be the CEO of Dunkin Donuts

I noticed there was a new update this morning. Not sure of it got fixed yet.
