Well damn, I hadn't done my research on the differences between the systems. I thought that it was more akin to the PS5 vs PS5 Digital than what it actually is. Now I need to re-assess.

Basically the S is more of a 1080p system while the X is more geared towards 4K.  I’d recommend you go with the X if you want the Xbox.  There are new Xbox SKUs on the way later this year so you might see some deals on the X even if has that disc slot.  I don’t use it at all except if I need to watch DVDs because I have nothing else to watch DVDs on.

I have my X hooked up to a 1080p 165hz 24” monitor and it can do games in 120 fps since 4K 120 fps is pretty unlikely for the XSX  I saw on the Xbox page for the game and it did mention 60+ fps.  I didn’t see that for the PS5 version but I think it should be there.  It’s worth checking around before you get a console.

I enjoyed my time on Kauai about 15 years ago.  I drove my wife nuts by watching those wild chickens all over the place.

Nope and I'm bummed about that...could be due to legal reasons that sunk the series in the past.  Once EA is more comfortable, I'd expect a PC version.

It was for the same development reasons that they're not releasing it on previous generation consoles either. Madden PC and even the NBA2K PC versions run neutered versions of their respective engines. EA decided that they only wanted to develop this game for latest gen consoles so they wouldn't run into compatibility issues.

Not sure about the NBA 2K PC series but Madden PC 23 or 24 was finally the same as the current gen of consoles.  Have 22 for the PC but I burned out on Madden after relying on it since the 21 edition.  I was not a fan of the XSX version of 21 and the newer versions and I just kept the Xbox One version on my XSX due to the difference in how the QB ran in the game.  I hope CFB 25 gives the Madden team a major kick in the pants going forward and there's incentive to do that because EA Sports has the NFL rights until the 27 version as far as I know.

At least you could run the option with the Ravens playbook.

Oh they finally put the mainline engine on the PC version of Madden? I haven't bought it since I think the '21 edition, and I hated it.

You might have hated the current gen Madden games.  That is why it's great that college football is back and from what I have seen (videos) and read, it should be much better than the Madden series.  I have read that the CFB team hates the Madden team which is developed under the same roof at EA Orlando (was called Tribourn) so maybe it will fire up the Madden guys.

I still hope CFB ends up on the PC so I can be done with consoles going forward.

I enjoy having consoles to play on, but I do prefer my gaming PC.

What I hated about the games from 2014 and earlier was the unrealistic difficulty levels. Like on one level I could take BSU to 5 national championships in a row. Turn up the difficulty setting one notch  and BSU loses to Idaho State 58-0

You could get the game tuned pretty well if you adjusted the sliders enough, but yeah, the basic difficulty levels were silly.

I'm a bit depressed I won't be able to play this for awhile. Absolutely loved the original game - one of my favorite games of all time. However, my PC is in a shipping container to Aukland and I won't be settled for a few more months. I guess I don't have time to play a huge game now anyways, but damn does this look good.
