AlpineSummer Posted June 17 Author Posted June 17 Since it's Father's Day. There are at least a handful of songs w/the title, My Old Man. My favorite is Jerry Jeff Walker's folk fiction story song 1st recorded on his 1968 Mr. Bojangles album, Zack Brown had a recent one, but the gone too early Steve Goodman was magic on Austin City Limits playing solo in 1978. I'm missing my WWII vet dad today, too.

Still alive in SoCal last I read probably taking micro dosing to an extreme. My aunt runs around with that crowd down there (she recently dated the photographer Henry Diltz). I should ask if she knows what he’s up to. closest I’ve been to that scene lately was having John Densmore on my roof randomly one night lol. I’ve become sort of friends with Jello Biafra and the artist Winston Smith (jello hangs out at Winston’s studio down the street which I also frequent) but that’s a different scene altogether 1

Last single by the original band, "Inside Looking Out," became a great cover by Grand Funk. A later single, "When I Was Young," is great too. Chas Chandler brought Jimi to the UK and managed him for several years. My buddies and I saw this Burdon concert as a solo artist: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/eric-burdon-and-the-animals/2019/humphreys-san-diego-ca-7391e21d.html Most concerts are about what you expect. However, some are unfortunately bad. But then there are some which just blow you away. That Burdon concert at Humphreys was one of them. His backing band was four young studs and Eric's energy was amazing for a man of his age. 1
AlpineSummer Posted June 29 Author Posted June 29 Kind of sad past week to say the least. Had the honor last Sat. of giving the eulogy for a close friend's father, an other good friend's wife in the hospital discovering a terminal illness, music death, other stuff. BSU radio plays this song on some Saturdays. Live, slower version of a blues song that always brings me a warm smile. Good way to start my day. TajMo "Diving Duck Blues": 1
AztecAlien Posted June 29 Posted June 29 Gonna mix it up. Been getting back into my head banging days. Saw these guys live recently and what energetic show. Crowd was alive. This is for the punk, thrash, rap metal people. Turn it up and feel those drums!! 🤘
SleepingGiantFan Posted June 29 Posted June 29 Love me some punk rock at times. Lately, I've been getting into what I guess might be called post-punk and I love this album from five Portland guys. To my recollection, they were literally never played on KROQ when I was listening exclusively to that station in the '80s. 2
AztecAlien Posted June 29 Posted June 29 This doesn't get old. RiP Wayne Swinny. Ripping guitar in another world.
AztecAlien Posted June 29 Posted June 29 Linkin Park came later for me and are quite a bit different than punk or staight metal. More alternative. They added a little hip hop with turntables, but are every bit worthy of my banging heads list. RIP Chester.
