I ended up dropping most of that into more stake in NVDA, which, even given the downs today and this week, means I'm up 130% on them. Then I took a smaller position in MU when they were at $84, so I'm up about 35% on them. I got lucky and got out of the one Pharma I was in right before they dropped from around $14 and they're trading at just under $7 now. Reinvested that into more IVV, which is an S&P ETF. Diversity is important for most. I'm hyper diversified, but still four of my largest positions got hit today. Down about 1.5% from the open, but better than the S&P or NASDAQ (-3.6%).

It will be interesting to see what the Rivian becomes with Volkswagens new investment in them. If I go EV with my next vehicle, I'm looking seriously at Rivian, especially since they have some new models coming out in the next two years.

I Pull a camper and the current EV trucks will definitely pull it but the battery drains too fast for my liking on long trips. I may reconsider if they can figure out the range, and the wait time to recharge. My wifes next car could very well be a EV, but she only has 36,000 miles on a Camry. Its barely broke in, lol.

Yeah, they don't make much sense for towing quite yet. My current vehicle is a 2013 RX350, which has about 135k miles now. I'm considering selling it towards the end of the year and giving it to my son.

Most of their models are looking pretty old, boring, and stale. The Cyber Truck is a niche vehicle. If they had a made a normal looking truck they'd probably sell a lot more. Tesla stock tanked because their Q2 numbers did.

But, the previous few years have been generally good news. it takes a long time to plan and build a factory nowadays. we saw a significant slowdown in bids and projects and a bunch of project freezes in design when fed rates were continuously rising. when they stabilized, projects started coming back in. this is probably reflecting that ~1 year period when everyone waited to see how much money cost before they built their planned factories. 2
AlpineSummer Posted July 26 Author Posted July 26 Glad for a little rebound today especially for my med tech that got hammered over 30% after reporting. Rotation in play:

Down a bit overall probably near the S&P because of NVDA, MSFT, and others. All my little bios red, but they don't mean much. I'm good with a 10% pullback. 20% won't change life any. Looking to buy an RV if that down market really crashes. Feels like that talked about rotation will be more a sell down for a bit. Russell 2000 down > 2x the S&P at the moment. 1

With the bigger drop only a few of mine still green like AAPL, IDA, and a few others, but many are just barley under water. Others are rolling over. PSX at -4% the most at the moment, but that's diversification. The ones down more have mostly been ones that sailed up a lot.

Not quite as bad from recent highs as INTC, but almost. Slowing Transaortic Valve Replacement plus buying two smaller cardio companies. Market did not like. That's life long term stock picking.
AlpineSummer Posted August 5 Author Posted August 5 Weekend news was Buffett exiting a bunch of AAPL. Now Japan down 7% in their Monday morning. Might need to set an alarm. lol
