Wow! Incredible shots! Were you in a helicopter/airplane for the third one?

Thanks! I was in a small plane. It was so beautiful through the Milford Sound.

Editing. Is it part of the artistic process in photography? Or is it a cheat code? Obviously software today make it so much easier, but you still need an "eye" for it IMHO. @Joe from Wyo

I actually really agree with what you’re saying (I think lol) …you do have to have a sort of eye for it. They’re definitely cheat codes in a sense…but understanding how to like really apply them to a raw photo in such a way to really get everything to pop…that’s an art unto itself.

Great place to hike around…I was a night clerk at the Rainbow a thousand years ago, used to hike in the hills during the day to catch my bearings lulz

My brother and I have this debate a lot.

i prefer minimal editing in most cases.  He considers significant editing part of the artistic process.

Dont get me wrong, I brighten and crop, and adjust color.  But I strongly prefer a more natural look, its why nikon jpegs are my favorite out of camera

I've been stuck with my phone cam for so long now. I want to invest in an slr in the near future. Only problem is it's bulk. I don't want to look like a tourist when I visit se Asia or South America. But I want amazing pics too...

I would suggest a one inch sensor shortzoom compact for what you are looking for.  Preferably with a viewfinder.

Panasonic, Sony, and Canon all make good ones.  They fit in your pocket and are just as discreet as a phone
