And how much do they cost?

Am I wrong in assuming that Jeff just let the other board die?

Seems odd he wouldn't sell it or even give it away if he is too busy or just didn't give a shit anymore.

It $30 a year for a ssl certificate.

30 clams is a lot of scratch if you're broke af and have a drug problem, one supposes

If this isn't a ringing endorsement for a guy I don't know what is.

Google https certificate authority.

edit: also, not trying to be condescending, I can tell you more about it if you'd like but not better than the interwebs. It's all about encryption and avoiding things like man in the middle attacks.

There's a one way hash to create a public and private key you install on your server that validates https(the s is for byobb) and then one of the certificate authorities(CA) you pay to validate your cert. Basically it's how "they" validate that a....valid SSL connection can be established so you can share(anything) credit card info, etc(but really anything and everything should be).

When a request is made from the client(native mobile app/chrome/firefox/etc) to the server, the server asks for your cert and then goes and looks it up to see if you've paid your $30.

How are the police policed? I have no idea. I assume the government(lol) is involved in some way with standards for SSL certification.

Once you disappeared along with a few others years ago this place wasn’t the same. I might have to visit here more now.

They're like $30 for a year.

I could fix it, but I won't spend money to keep that place up and running any longer. The last I checked, Jeff hadn't logged in there in a month. He kept putting more and more obtrusive ads up and basically abandoned the place for me to take care of while he got income from it, which he obviously needed after his law license was revoked.

I didn't know his license got pulled.

I left the board and occasionally checked in to keep up on recruiting and realignment.

I know you put a lot time in keeping that board running.  I had no idea you put money into it as well.

He should have just turned it over to you and/or mug.
