Bison Posted May 15 Posted May 15 Coach Prime hype hasn't gone away just yet. I'm thinking CU @ CSU will be nationwide TV as well.
Bison Posted May 15 Author Posted May 15 SEC has their media days in Dallas this year and next year. I think next year's Big 12 Media Days will be in Vegas as well.

I don't think we've seen you around since you told everyone Coach "Prime" was going to teach Dan Lanning and Oregon a lesson. I think you followed that 40 point beatdown up with you're done being a CU fan and leaving the board for the 15th time. @glduck, do you feel like Oregon was taught their due and proper lesson? Pre-Season hype is great isn't it? A chance for CU to be relevant again until the season is a few weeks old. LOL at Coach "Prime" hype. Saban will probably go down as the best CFB coach ever, even if he's a prick. "Prime" will likely go down as the most embarrassing joke of a CFB coach of all time. I guess you'll be around until CU starts running off 6 losses in a row like last year.

Well that episode with Lanning was hilarious and now that CU and UO are no longer conference rivals, the Ducks easily will be my favorite Big Ten team to root for. I think the Ducks are a CFP team this year. The bison is strongly associated with me. Mother graduated from West Texas State (now West Texas A&M) and they have the Buffaloes nickname. I was like 6 or 7 and remember seeing all those buffalo gear when I hung out while my mother cut up dead cats for her biology class. Then moved to CU and there's the Buffs. Graduated from a college that has the Bison nickname and now I work for the government agency which has the bison in its logo. Might as well give up trying to get away from that win or lose. With this NIL era, it's going to be easier to put together a competitive team and that might water down college football somewhat but it won't matter when I see Ralphie running out and yelling "SKO BUFFS!". What's the point of buying those preseason preview magazines when you don't know who will still be on the team? It stinks that loyalty means nothing these days but the upside is you could see more quick turnarounds instead of having teams being mired in mediocrity for a long period of time. I have been to at least a few Dick's Sporting Goods stores here in CO and CU gear is still taking up the most retail space there and Coach Prime is a big part of the reason. He has been a good moneymaker for CU for sure.

I’m guessing it just means you will be heading for the hills as soon as it looks like CU will have another 8 losses this season. And there will be a smoke trail from all your CU gear you will burn again. Just like last year. 1
Bison Posted May 16 Author Posted May 16 100 days to college football - Top games, players, contenders - ESPN Quote 10. Kansas State at Colorado, Oct. 12: By Week 2 of the 2023 season, Colorado-mania had taken over the country and Buffs games were the biggest show around. Sure, the hype didn't last, but coach Deion Sanders is back with what should be an improved team in 2024 and there's every reason to think the show could be even bigger this time around. Colorado starts with North Dakota State, Nebraska, Colorado State, Baylor and UCF -- and only NDSU of the FCS finished with a winning record last year. So, imagine a world where Coach Prime has his team sitting at 5-0 with K-State, one of the Big 12's top teams, coming to town? There's a good chance Sanders will find some beef with coach Chris Klieman that no one quite understands but we will nevertheless talk breathlessly about for days. Look no further than the second sentence in why I'm optimistic for a good start by the Buffs. And given that Klieman coached at NDSU, something NDSU does against CU might give Coach Prime reason to have a beef with KSU. Both NDSU and KSU basically run the same offense but the NDSU version is more of a power QB running game while KSU will be more on the speed side of things. Quote 10. South Dakota State at Oklahoma State, Aug. 31: The Jackrabbits will take a 29-game winning streak into 2024 after winning the past two FCS national titles, but a trip to Stillwater will be their most difficult test in years. 5. North Dakota State at Colorado, Aug. 29: North Dakota State is among the preseason national championship FCS favorites and will begin the season with what will almost certainly be its most-watched game ever at Colorado, which is full of question marks after losing eight of nine to end Deion Sanders' first year in charge. Not surprised those two games have FCS upset alerts on them but I don't think that will happen in both games. South Dakota State does return their starting QB but he will be doing this without his best receiving targets and a RB who was drafted. As for North Dakota State, they do return their QB but they have a new head coach who was the OC and the Bison showed signs of slippage as a program last season losing to their three Dakota rivals in the regular season. Quote 9. BYU at Utah, Nov. 9: The Holy War is back after a three-year hiatus and, as a conference game going forward, should be the most hotly contested rivalry in the new Big 12. This rivalry could become the main rivalry in the Big 12. I wish the Buffs got BYU this season but that's not going to happen until next year in Boulder and 2027 in Provo. Quote 7. Oklahoma State at Colorado, Nov. 29: This old Big Eight rivalry has been revived, with coach Mike Gundy facing off against Deion Sanders in a meeting that could hold Big 12 title game implications. Don't think CU-OSU will become a rivalry but it appears that OSU will be CU's travel pair in every sport in the Big 12. It's ironic since my first CU MBB game was an upset win in Boulder against OSU. Quote 4. Baylor's Dave Aranda: He led Baylor to a Big 12 title and a No. 5 finish in 2021 but is just 11-23 during his other three years in Waco. Aranda reclaimed defensive playcalling duties and needs more from the Jake Spavital-led offense to earn a return for Year 5 in 2025. I'm still surprised Aranda is back instead of taking a coordinator job at B1G or SEC school. I think he's out after this season anyway. Arizona, OSU, Utah, and KSU are potential first time CFP teams this year. KSU & Utah are also mentioned as CFP first round bye teams.
Trojan209 Posted May 17 Posted May 17 I wonder if Bradley Van Pelt will make an appearance for the game this year. I remember losing my mind as a kid watching this play. 1
Bison Posted May 17 Author Posted May 17 I haven't heard much about Bradlee Van Pelt's doings since he left Ft. Collins but it would make sense since it will be the first CU-CSU game in Ft. Collins since 1988.

Sonny Lubick had the team rolling even in the old WAC days. The Utah/CSU game in 1994 was the best ever in the series. Both teams were undefeated, top 10 and we pulled out a win in the last 30 seconds. McBride was an average coach with a peak of about 8 wins per year in his career, but a step up from previous dreadful Utah football. I remember going to games in a shitty, run down wood seat Rice Stadium watching Fassel run his terrible "Duck formations" but Scott Mitchell will always be a Ute Legend in my mind. The cool thing is, the 1994 season was awesome because we really didn't know what top 25 football was until that season. Unless you were really old going back further. Nothing after 1994 though other than a few decent bowl wins. Something else Utah wasn't accustomed to doing. Then enter Meyer in 2003. The rest of Ute football is good history when we pulled our head out of our ass as a program. Thanks Dr. Hill. CSU fans have to be frustrated knowing what good football looked like and they haven't done anything since Sonny retired., He was slipping towards the end. Van Pelt kinda reminds me of Taysom Hill. Big strong, fast dude that could deliver some punishment. Much better passer than Taysom too. 2
Chile_Ute Posted May 17 Posted May 17 I was at that game live…most intense back and forth. Had just graduated and some fellow student trainers and I took a van to watch at Hughes. Still one of my favorite memories.

CU might be able to beat BYU this year. They are really struggling converting to a power league. Their honor code will continue to hinder their advancement for getting real talent. Playing 3-4 power teams a year isn't the same as playing 9 or 10 a year. A lot of good LDS talent goes out the door and not to BYU. Utah consistently out recruits these guys instate for LDS talent. Their problem is, this is the only pool of talent they really have. Maybe a few guys here and there but they all have to follow the honor code. Not exactly inspiring for young college studs looking to be college kids and party and woo the ladies. But honestly, I think CU is a big mess right now, so counting any wins seems premature. They might beat you in Provo but I think you'd beat them in Boulder.

Bison Posted May 21 Author Posted May 21 Colorado football sells out season tickets for 2nd straight season - ESPN Buffs sold out football season tickets for the second year in a row.
Bison Posted May 22 Author Posted May 22 So the Utes end the season in sunny Florida...not too shabby!

Bison Posted May 30 Author Posted May 30 So CU is on ESPN, NBC, and CBS to begin the season. It's okay to be joyful since there's no P12N.
Bison Posted May 30 Author Posted May 30 Love that narrative...would be freaking awesome if there is a repeat. No doubt CU ends up on Fox at some point this season because of Coach Prime.
