Will apparently have to get my fix with YouTube highlights. The expected backups for CU played a lot on ESPN+ against a D3 school. Sounds like it might be your starters having one final tune up before the season opener so they wouldn't want to show anything at this point I guess.

Possibly good for preventing future opponents from game planning, but bad for us out-of-state fans.

azgreg Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Nice start for the conference tonight going 11-0 including a UCF upset of #13 TAMU. Last up is Baylor with a tough one against Gonzaga.

Chile_Ute Posted November 5 Posted November 5 I know it was only Alcorn St but Utah is definitely longer and quicker than before. Lot of new faces. Not sure what to make of it but it was not a frustrating game to watch.

But that would be a lie....

Pelado Posted November 6 Posted November 6 BYU opened their season last night against Central Arkansas. Russian newcomer Egor Demin started at point guard and broke a school record for most assists in a freshman debut. He posted a double double (18 points, 11 assists), leading the team in both points and assists. He also added 4 rebounds and 4 steals. Shot over 50% from the field (including from 3). Dude is really good. Kanon Catchings (former Purdue commit) is a quick, smooth shooter. And he can really elevate. He finished with 17 points, 3 blocks, 3 rebounds, and a steal. The third-leading scorer was returner Ritchie Saunders with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal. Serbian Mihailo Boskovic played well, too. The most disappointing player last night was Dawson Baker, who didn't get to play much last season because of injury. In 17 minutes, he was 0-6 from 3, 0-1 from 2, and 1-2 from the free throw line for a total of 1 point. No rebounds, no steals, no blocks, and 1 assist.
Bison Posted November 9 Author Posted November 9 @SWspartan this is the B12 basketball thread. 👍 Northern Colorado gave CU all they could handle which CU won in 2 OT. Not bad for a CU team that is replacing all five starters and a few top backups. Two manageable games before going to Maui to face Michigan State.
Pelado Posted November 9 Posted November 9 UC Riverside made a game of it against BYU. They shot the ball really well, especially from the free throw line (in stark contrast to the Cougs). Happy to get the win.
SWspartan Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Mountaineers looked pretty good in their win over UMass last night. WVU is now 2-0. 👊
Lobonado Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Hurts to see Toppin dominate games now. TT will get all the credit for "developing" him and sending him to the NBA. Grant McCasland is a great coach, but UNM gave him the chance to star. Yes, I'm still bitter.
azgreg Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Arizona with a nice 102-44 win over Old Dominion. Up next is Friday at Wisconsin and Duke following Friday.
azgreg Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Arizona at Wisconsin Friday night. Should be a good one.

I’m not even going to do a game break down until we play some meat on the schedule. Craig Smith’s wet noodle defensive scheme just scares me too much to call my stock broker.

The defense is better…but without 3 of 4 big men. Not sold but they shift and transition better than the past 3 years. More perimeter shooters (competent). I’m not calling more wins, but I think they are more athletic/competitive. Im just ready to shift my disappointment to a new sport. 1

Their D is better than a long while which doesn’t say much. 3 games in I’m looking forward to the season. I said earlier, if we aren’t last it will be a successful season. Love the Mongolian point guard.
Bison Posted November 18 Author Posted November 18 Buffs do what they were expected to do with CSU-Fullerton and Harvard. Now the next game will be in Maui against Michigan State. After the tourney in Maui, the Buffs have four more games (including a home game against CSU) before Big 12 play starts.
