BYU had been winning big every game and UNLV...hadn't. The spread was only 7 points. Easy money, right? I came very close to placing a bet on my Cougars to cover. I was surprised and frustrated that BYU trailed for much of the game, including being down 28-31 late in the fourth quarter. On consecutive plays, Brandon Doman converted on 4th down with a 40-yard pass to Mike Rigell and then, on first down, rushed for a 22-yard touchdown and the lead. I was elated for the win and even more so because I didn't place the bet to cover. With as much of a sure thing as that bet seemed before the game, I learned not to bet on sporting events. What do you want the stakes to be? On 6/28/2024 at 1:34 PM, utenation said: Hat or shirt. Straight up, no points. Since you guys are the big dogs with “scoreboard” and such. If you want to save some money on paying off any hat bets, today's the last day of a BOGO 50% off promo at the BYU Store (Promo code BOGOHAT24): https://www.byustore.com/byu-apparel/byu-hats 1

azgreg Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Speaking of Duke, they just had an exhibition game with ASU and it wasn't pretty. 1

Yeah I'd be worried about the season with that brutal Big 12 coming up especially no bye weeks during the season due to the increase from 18 conference games to 20 conference games.

Bison Posted October 28 Author Posted October 28 https://hookemheadlines.com/texas-s-tre-johnson-explodes-for-31-points-in-scrimmage-win-vs-colorado-01jb813p91ef TCU also did a closed door scrimmage in San Antonio while CU played in Austin.
azgreg Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Our second scrimmage is tonight against something called Point Loma Nazarene University. Our first one was a 117-54 win over Eastern New Mexico University.

Pelado Posted October 28 Posted October 28 BYU reportedly beat Boise State narrowly in a super secret scrimmage, even though BYU held out 4 scholarship players.

Bison Posted October 29 Author Posted October 29 I'm enjoying watching CU football this year but I'm looking forward to watching plenty of basketball (both M & W) this coming season thanks to ESPN+. I have zero expectations for CU MBB and a little more for CU WBB due to the roster turnover on both squads. Funny thing is that I drive by Colorado Christian University as part of my commute to work and they are playing an exhibition at BYU tomorrow night. I have no clue how competitive their basketball team is in the D2 RMAC. I was looking at Arizona's MBB schedule and I'm like that second half of conference play is going to be challenging with the end being at the Phog in Kansas. Also looking at ASU's schedule, it's understandable that Hurley said "oh shit" after seeing the Dookies run over the Sun Devils recently. And after utenation mocked BYU fans for being quiet before the football season, I wonder if they are thinking they will have a good basketball season by being quiet before the season started? The Utes had a good season at home last year where they went 17-2. Think they will run the slate at home this season? Looking at the five mountain B12 teams, I think Zona will have the best overall MBB season followed by BYU & Utah, ASU, and CU. Maybe you could switch ASU & CU in that spot.
Bison Posted October 29 Author Posted October 29 Going to post Youtube videos of some B12 MBB coaches in the recent media days event in Kansas City. I'm going to just focus on the mountain schools going forward.
Bison Posted October 29 Author Posted October 29 So far, I have watched Tad Boyle & Bill Self and they both brought up some good points: Boyle said that it's easier to build a roster but harder to build a program in today's college basketball. Self said that there are no Big 12 teams outside of the Top 90 MBB teams and said that a 15-5 B12 conference record means you had a heck of a season. I'm still going to miss the P12 for basketball but I'm excited to be back in the B12 for basketball.
