What is happening at BYU is unprecedented. Apparently we are being accused tampering by some of the blue bloods we beating on recruiting.

what are your thoughts Utesnational. Is Ryan Smith tampering by throwing money at these kids.

We wont face one team with more talent than us all season. And we are in the best basketball conference in the country.

One or two of these top 100 recruits are going to be riding the bench most of the season. Now it makes sense why Waterman a starter was told to move on. Louisville sign him. Apparently our left overs now move on to the Louisville.

It looks like our feeder program might end up being the Utes. Prove your self in Salt Lake and you can move on to Provo if you are good enough.

Seriously, never change. I wish there were 15 BYU fans like you here.

Keep stacking up the pre season wins my friend.

I know there’s excitement in Provo but saying you have more talent than KU, KSU, ISU, Baylor (two guys withdrew their names from the NBA Draft), and Houston is crazy.  Throw in Arizona and that’s at least six teams who can claim they could be more talented than BYU.

And the B12 hasn’t released the basketball schedules yet.

You need to learn Robe my friend. Outlandish, crazy claims are his game.

That looks like a fun home schedule for the Buffs with Kansas, Iowa State, BYU, Baylor, Cincy, and Houston coming to town.  I don't mind that round robin with ASU but those trips to Lawerence and Ames don't look fun.

Posted

I see CU getting at least seven wins in the B12 and 12 wins at most after a quick glance at the schedule and standings.

The Buffs should beat ASU, UCF, TCU, BYU, Cincy, and WVU at home.  The Buffs should win at Oklahoma State and that is how I got to seven wins.

I think the Buffs could beat UCF, TCU, Utah, and ASU on the road.

The Buffs more likely than not tends to pull off a big upset over a ranked opponent at home and Kansas is more likely in that case.

CU won't beat Iowa State at home/road, Arizona, Houston, Baylor, Kansas State, and Texas Tech.

It speaks to how crazy good the B12 is in basketball.  BYU just recruited two guys that are potential lottery picks and placing 6th in the B12 would be a good conference finish.

I agree somewhat but the B12 had 8 pretty low seeds(including a 1 and 2 seed) in the Dance and not one of them advanced past the S16.  That's not exactly "crazy good". Unless you don't look at post season play as a measuring stick.

B12 performance in the tourney was a disappointment last year, but I am not talking about last year.  When you look at what is happening at the top of the B12 with Kansas, Houston, Arizona, Iowa St., and even Baylor, the B12 will be crazy good this year.  There could be two NCAA #1 seeds and who knows how many overall bids.  Then you factor in how deep the league is...there are not many nights off in conference play...you will play a tourney quality team nearly every night.

B12 was already tough before CU left and it seems like it got stronger.  It is stronger than the PAC-12 without a doubt.

At least CU’s basketball program overall is in a much better place than the last few years before CU left for the P12.  CU didn’t have a practice facility until the final B12 season and that was one of the reasons CU didn’t do that great in the original B12.  Both basketball programs finished dead last in the B12 in 2008…that was BAD.

Tad Boyle’s lowest conference win total was 7 about 10 years ago.  8-12 wins would be the norm and I’d be happy with a .500 conference record given the departure of 3 NBA Draft picks from last year’s team.  Portal additions look like they will offset most of the losses but we will have a new PG and we are not sure if any of the potential apps are up to the task.

I'm not going to degrade the B12, they've had success in the Dance and Kansas and Baylor have very recent titles.  But I think a lot of B12 fans overlook the failures last year.

It was not great by B12 standards, and the dogs barked pretty loud in some B12 games.  BYU laid a gigantic ostrich egg.  One of the big problems was injuries at Kansas.  They had a very good starting 5, but they lacked numbers on the bench and could be worn down by good teams.  Won't be the case this year.  You would have thought Houston would at least have been final 4 last year, but they disappointed.  They are reloaded.  Baylor will be better.  Iowa State will be better.  Arizona is looking really good.  I believe my Cougs will actually be better and more dependable.  It won't be live by the 3 die by the 3 next year.  It is going to be a very, very tough conference to get wins.

Agree on Kansas. Houston as a 1 seed has failed to make it past the S16 two seasons in a row now. Overrated in my book. We played them last year, we were average and they are much better than us but if you're a 1 seed, you better get it done.

We might see similar tournament failures next season because of the increase from 18 to 20 conference games and zero byes.  Also maybe no more bye rounds given the 16 teams during the conference tournament.  The teams at the top in the B12 are good enough to make the Final Four but will they after going through that grind?

I can understand why a BYU fan would want to not play us in football anymore after getting beat down the last 2 decades.

You ran out of milage on this one in hoops. Didn't ya? We're not far off from the epic beatdown BYU is going to get at RES in a few months.

Basketball?  You know BYU is a football school.  And it's been nearly 5 years since Utah beat BYU in football.
