Sitake would not be in my top 5. I know Wilner loves to say BYU won the South this year, but he seems like an exceptionally poor recruiter.

He's actually a good recruiter when his hands aren't tied like they are at BYU. He has a great Poly pipeline and he recruited well when he was the DC at Utah.

It took him a few years at BYU to get things moving in the right direction but the last two years, he's done well on the field.  He's done it with mostly a bunch of slow white guys and Poly's in the trenches.  Being Indy with no conference title to work for and no access to NY6 bowls hasn't helped either.

Agree, but can see he isn’t a flashy-splash hire the Ducks are looking for IMO.  He would do right for a lot of programs though.

At this point, does Oregon really need a splash or just the consistent guy? As @glduck mentioned, since Chip, the interest from top names really hasn't been there. I agree with Kalani not being a splash or media sweetheart but what do Oregon fans and boosters want at this point?  The guy that leaves after 2-3 years or a workhorse?

couple of interesting tweets

Because he accepted the job 3 weeks ago but had to wait until after the CCG, but then waffled a little when Oregon found out and made a big offer. This was probably in the works for months, if not years.

Now that we’ve heard from Kiffin, all that’s left before they hire the real guy is for James Franklin’s agent to float his name so he can get another contract extension from Penn State.

Remember this guy?

I remember that guy. At the end of another losing season he tried to rally the troops with Buffalos walking through the storm speeches right before Utah pounded CU again. Tears, the whole bit if I remember.

I said it in my initial post after Mario left… this is far more likely than a big splash.

Why ask permission? Is this a smoke screen? Why were there zero leaks of this sort around Riley, Kelly, or Cristobal? Is Mullens playing hungry hungry hippos?

Although you can ask for permission & not leak it to the press.

Someone is taking the temperature of the room up in Eugene.
