The Flu

I had a bout of it in early October, before my employer was offering free flu shot clinics, so I passed. I've only ever gotten one shot in my life, and it was the wrong strain. I got the flu anyway.

I suppose I should be getting the double dose every year.

Did you get a flu shot this year?

Though I've heard some years they're only like 20% effective.

Yes I did. And if it's preventing me from feeling even worse I would hate the alternative.

This is 2 years in a row where it's just flattened me.

I used to be adamantly opposed to the flu shots. But I've gone ahead with it the past 3 years. 2 of those years have been the worst for the flu knocking me on my butt.

Could just be getting older.

Probably just a coincidence.  I got a flu shot the past two years.  Never got the flu.  Then again, I'm around a lot more snotty kids and my immune system is basically a roman phalanx now.

Hope you're better now...

So do I

Dr sent me home with more steroids, antibiotics and a nebulizer this morning. And no work today or tomorrow. Hopefully this obnoxious cough will be gone after.

Thank you for your thoughts. :)

Got the flu shot just last year...hopefully it works.

Changed my diet to more healthier food which might help as well.

My son had Strep throat back over Christmas break. I think I would take any other sickness over Strep Throat, including the flu. Watching him cry for 5 straight days when he tried to eat anything was heartbreaking. He couldnt rationalize why it hurt so bad

This is the sickest I've been in 20 years (back when I had to have a needle injected into the back of my throat - twice - to drain fluid from an infected tonsil).  Sore throat, constant fatigue, body aches, sinus issues that won't quit.

It's a fucking nightmare.  I had fever dreams - -literal fever dreams -- that I would die from this.  Holy shit.  Don't get sick this winter, folks.  Stay at home.

First case of the China coronavirus reported in the US in Seattle.  Be on the watchout for that.  I'm concerned for my grandparents who live in the Boise area.  Grandmother has dementia and might have taken a turn for the worse recently.  Grandfather is 88 and grandmother is 84.  Celebrated their 65th anniversary.  Couples who have been together around that long die not long from each other.

So....you think coronavirus gave your grandmother dementia?

That sucks.  I’ve been flying, and see people on each flight with masks on.  I REALLY go out of my way to avoid them.

Got an internal email at work saying that if you are feeling sick, just stay home and work at home.

I hope not because I cannot stand staying inside my home for more than two days before I start going crazy.

This virus coverage is out of control.  100 dead in China.  Maybe 5 cases here, zero deaths, 3% mortality rate.

What's the fuss about?
