  1. FYI, I posted a thank you letter to you all in OT/Political section. Since some of you don't post there, I decided let you know, here, as well.
  2. 10 more days of this progressive political agenda. A federal judge in Kentucky struck down changes made to Title IX by the Biden administration Thursday, ruling that the new regulations, which had sought to expand nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ students, violate the Constitution. Thursday’s decision came in response to a lawsuit filed by Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia. The GOP-led states had taken issue with the new rule’s expanded definitions of sex discrimination and harassment, as well as a provision allowing transgender students to use single-sex facilities that best align with their gender identity. “Put simply, there is nothing in the text or statutory design of Title IX to suggest that discrimination ‘on the basis of sex’ means anything other than it has since Title IX’s inception—that recipients of federal funds under Title IX may not treat a person worse than another similarly-situated individual on the basis of the person’s sex, i.e., male or female,” he wrote. https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/5077271-kentucky-judge-rules-biden-title-ix/
  3. Welcome! I hope you enjoy yourself here. To make things easy for you, I’ve taken the liberty to put a gif next to each fan base on these forums so you understand how to talk to them and what you’ll be in for when you do. Air Force: Not many, but they get the job done. Hawaii: They ain’t bad, bruddah. New Mexico: They’ll generally be supportive and leave you alone. San Jose: Wyoming: Loud, somewhat annoying, but entertaining and no harm done. Reno: Don't call them Nevada, they prefer Reno or UNR. 😈 UTEP: There was that one guy who posted once. GCu and UC Davis: They aren’t here. UNLV: I know we’re annoying, and we talk about bunnies too god damn much, and we’ll become worse the more we win. No buts, that’s it. PAC teams: SDSU: Fresno: Utah State: Colorado State: There are a few posters that will correct you or try to correct you, all the fucking time. Boise: Just the worst. Team posters to avoid: 1) Boise, 2) UNLV. That’s it, that’s the list.
  4. What's our thoughts on teh JUCO ruling that came out the other day? https://www.thestudentathleteadvisors.com/blog/junior-college-eligibility-notice-a-potential-game-changer#:~:text=The ruling%2C which exempts years spent at junior, see what this could mean for the future.
  5. Aaron Judge representing Fresno State today!
  6. A look back at 2024. What were your top sports highlights of the calendar year?
  7. He was, to my ear, the best CBS play-by-play guy. He'd be on my Mount Rushmore of NFL announcers and studio hosts.

Anyone else see this on Netflix? Just when I thought American sports fans were nuts, England’s fans take it to the insanity scale. The documentary is about England’s soccer match with Italy for the Euro championship which England hadn’t won since 1966. Thousands of people started packing the stadium site the day before the game. Most didn’t even have tickets, they were just there to party. By four hours before the game most were drunker than skunks and raising all kinds of hell throwing bottles and generally causing mayhem.By sheer luck no one was killed. By game time they stormed the gates, ran over security, and filled the stadium many without tickets, thousands still trying to get in. They still played the game and England lost on penalty kicks, their three black players missing theirs. Those poor dudes were hit with every racial slur you can imagine. Although the team and most Brits stood up for them. Anyway, it was interesting to see how insane sports fans can get. Yeah, I know people and even players are killed in So America over a soccer game.
  9. Baseball legend Rickey Henderson passed due to complications from pneumonia at age 65. He would have been 66 on Christmas Day. I was in attendance in San Diego when he broke the all time run record while playing for the Padres. He did it with a home run. I enjoyed watching him play. Gone too soon. RIP
  10. Off to a 9-0 start, but stirring some controversy over their transgender player. SUU made history by refusing to play them: https://www.essentiallysports.com/us-sports-news-olympics-news-volleybll-news-southern-utahs-decision-against-san-joses-transgender-volleyball-star-fuels-rage-from-another-players-mother-very-uncomfortable/

  12. Dogs are currently fleeing the greater Sacramento area in anticipation of this hire.
  13. @NorthWestCowboy and @Iam4wyo, Utah is fired up and ready to go. First pre-season home game tonight. They’ve done construction on the Delta Center to make it better for hockey. Construction is also underway for our first class hockey practice/office facilities. It will be done next year. I’m still getting used to the rules and strategies but let’s get a season thread fired up. @UNLV2001 and @SharkTanked Utah’s first and second lines will be playing tonight.

    Triathlon

Congratulations to the 2024 NCAA Triathlon National Champions your Arizona Wildcats!
  21. Man I'm stoked. Was at both games this week against the Braves - going back to '98, we're now 4-0 in the postseason vs. ATL when I'm in attendance. 😎 Also, for those who haven't been to Petco for a while, we do a thing now. It's like our Temu Sweet Caroline, sung in the middle of the 8th. This was from Tuesday:
  22. I was thinking of all my years in the service industry and the sports "celebrities" I've tended bar to or served in downtown Boise, or just met over the years. Here's my list: Big Bob Kustra: He and his wife Kathy were regulars of mine and are awesome people. Kathy is a gem and her and I would talk more shop about the bball or football team than Bob would. Still love running into them. 10/10 Larry Eustachy: Served him and his wife after he had left CSU and, me being maybe the only MW sicko in the building, decided to make a remark about the basketball season. He kind of lit up at being recognized and was happy to talk about the MW tourney for a while. Tipped the bill, too. 10/10 Mike Altieri: Former Bronco, personal friend and fellow bartender. Current head football coach at Boise High and kicking ass. Great guy 10/10 Chris Petersen: Served him and a group of lower staff members that he was treating a meal to. So polite. Like overly polite. When I greeted the table he stood up, shook my hand, and said "Hi Chris Petersen, nice to meet you! Make sure I get the bill!" I'm like, duh bro. The staff loved him and of course I do too. 10/10 Bryan Harsin: I only bartend private events on the side now, and he spoke at an "Alpha" leadership type summit that I was working last year to a group of 25 rich dudes. His speech was actually incredible. He went in depths about leaving Boise State and taking the Auburn job and all of the drama and failures he went through there. He truly seems humbled and I feel grateful to have heard his side of the story (that these dudes paid $2000 to hear). Definitely changed my view of him. But, he didn't say thank you for the glass of wine, or really acknowledge me at all, which is fine, but shows you the side of him we've already seen. 7/10 Andy Avalos and staff: Hosted a coach's wives dinner last year at our event space. All the coaches were really nice, and Avalos threw a $50 bill on the tip jar and shook my hand at the end even though it was paid for by Boise State. A few snotty trophy wives, bet they were mostly cool too. 8/10 Pat Hill: Man, I was pumped to see him sit at my bar 5 or so years ago. Again, I was probably the only MW sicko in the room that recognized him. He was in town for a Boise State game I think with CBS sports or something with a couple other gentlemen. I greeted him with a "How you doing coach? Can I grab you something to drink?" and he kinda just waved me away. Snapped at me when he wanted to order and was generally cold. He still rocked the fu manchu which is why he gets a 2/10 Anyone else have any stories of people from the West Coast conferences that you've met?
  23. Call me petty AF, but I love it. This is what a real city rivalry looks like. And as far as the excuses why this plane is as actually chose to fly the Dodgers home- nobody with half a brain is buying it.
