1% national sales tax would net $200B per year. (based on nearly $20T of consumer spending in the USA in the most recent year data is available). 5% gets us $1T. There would be no sales tax on healthy food & drinks and necessities. Google search says 5% VAT would bring in about $300B per year. That will increase the national sales tax & excise tax revenue at the same time. We need an excise tax on in-home entertainment and unhealthy foods & drinks in addition to increasing those excise taxes on booze and tobacco products. That would easily raise more than $1T per year and that would be used only towards paying down the national debt. That should reduce the interest we pay on the debt which is getting close to $1T per year. Raising revenue shouldn't be too difficult to do.

Guess Vance will be going after those woke leopards.

TikTok isn't limited to the USA you know?

Consumption taxes do not have to be massively regressive to the poor. Rich people can also invest more into their businesses and if they sell items, they can provide employer discounts to spur the employees to spend more at the business which means they will at least recoup the costs of employing those people. People focus too much on the income tax thing when it comes to rich people because rich people are more likely to put their wealth into properties and pay more property taxes on them. Consumption taxes can be modified as well and wouldn't it be easier to make those modifications than with income taxes?

Looks drier in Colorado and there wasn't much snowfall in March which is usually the snowiest month in Colorado. The 98 percentage is what feeds the Platte River which is important for the corn crops in Nebraska, Iowa, etc. 75 one is Arkansas River Valley which goes through southern Kansas to the Mississippi River. Colorado River (sw part of the state) isn't looking good...will have an impact on Arizona & Mexico. Guess we will be having water restrictions & forest fires this summer.

We'd keep the sin taxes on unhealthy foods & beverages while we could keep healthy foods & drinks tax free. MAHA!

So simple...include the tax into the price of the merchandise you are selling. If you want an expensive item, you should expect to pay a higher tax rate. Likewise, if you want a cheap item, you can expect to pay a lower tax rate.

After the disastrous outcomes of the Afghanistan & Iraq wars, I agree we should never invade another country. But seven minutes...we might have to take Greenland by force if Denmark will not step up its game on Greenland.
-
Not the first time this country behaved this way and it just hasn't happened during the lifetimes of every poster on this board. Russia & China want the Artic to themselves. Denmark is not capable of defeating either Russia or China...maybe in Civilization games but that's it. Russia's fastest & newest missile could hit DC in under 8 minutes. Now recompute your position on this topic.

Meanwhile the UA coach continues to clap his hands.

It's fitting that the Colorado Rockies opened the season at Tampa Bay who is playing at a minor league stadium given how much the Rockies appear to be a minor league team. I imagine the other NL West teams would happily pay the Monforts (Rockies owners) to keep the Rockies in the L column.

There's also Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) where the person could earn up to about $1,300.00 per month before having to pay some of that money back. I would think that eliminating those social security offsets would be much easier to encourage people to come back to the workplace. It's preferrable to lose the job than the benefit.

You might be right since after we conquer Greenland, Trump could be setting his eyes on Scotland.

MW - Pac-12 merger still possible for greater media value and money
Bison replied to Wolf from 73's topic in Sports Forum
Almost three months away from needing to have a school withdraw from their current conference in order to give the PAC one more full football member. This lack of urgency isn't new to any fan of former Pac-12 schools. -
Is it really called the British Commonwealth?

As RSF has shown, you do not have a good understanding of the topic at hand.
