  1. I'm Deaf (as someone who is part of that culture) and I used to wear hearing aids but refused to continue when the audiologist told me that I needed to pay $300 for repairing the digital hearing aids back in like 2006 since the warranty would only go six months.  I haven't worn hearing aids for a long time because I have a Deaf wife and my work communication is email, Windows Teams, or video relay interpreter.

I do have a profound hearing loss in both ears and the new ipod airs could be certificated as hearing aids but I doubt for my hearing loss.

I did get those hearing aids for free through vocational rehab while I was in college (and not earning any money) but I recall they were actually $3K for a pair.  $10K for a pair is just nuts.

Hunter is more special than I thought.  It's reported that he receives no NIL (money) from the collective; instead he's one of the biggest donors to the collective, meaning he's paying a lot of others' NIL on this team. He's paying at least 10-15 guys' NIL on the team, donating his own money.

This from a player who not only owns the Heisman, but won the AP College Football Player of the Year, the Chuck Bednarik Award ((college football's best defensive player), the Fred Biletnikoff Award (best receiver in college football), the Lott Impact trophy (best defensive impact in college football), and the Paul Hornung Award (most versitile college football player.)  And while doing it all, having a 4.0 GPA as a student.  Sour grapes says it's just snaps and hype.  The serious football world says quite different.

Yes I saw that stuff this morning on a CU fan site.  You should check his fiancée out and she's an impressive woman but I wonder if she helped with that NIL stuff too.  But what an impressive guy and he says that he wants to be better than what Coach Prime was/is.  I think he is making some progress on that.

    Snaps aren’t stats.

Name me the last player to be named an AP All-American at two positions.  SI did the same thing.  And like East Coast Fan said, he kicked ass in the classroom too.

I can only imagine the national outcry if it was Shedeur Sanders winning the Heisman over Jeantry given all that controversy over him and his father.

Jeantry should have no shame losing to Hunter given how awesome Hunter is.  May he have a great NFL career.

Any P4 team that wants to hire Mullen after next season would owe UNLV $7M and that amount decreases by $1M per year.  If G5, that amount is $5M and decreases by $1M per year.

If Mullen is determined to be a fraud of a head coach, a firing would require 80 percent of the remaining contract to be paid.

That P4 buyout amount seems a little low...imo should be closer to $10M.

After reading the complaint, a couple of things struck me.

It is being brought by the Colorado Attorney General.  He and the VA Attorney General successfully sued the NCAA to give SA's unrestricted transfer rights without sitting out at any point (I didn't agree with that), and he incessantly brings the welfare of the SA into the the complaint.  A popular cause in the judicial these days.

It's being brought in CO.  A very activist judiciary that loves plaintiffs.

It's predicated on the plaintiffs  being excluded from the board, and their exclusion from the board is pretty specific in the bylaws.

It's also predicated on the plaintiffs being treated as non-members of the conference, which is factually false.  We are still members.

A whole lot of it is predicated on not dropping $5K to complete a statement of withdrawal from the conference.  Good luck with that IMO.

There could be some important precedents set with this one.  The plea of poverty for Western Conferences could even show up down the road.  It will be interesting.

That CO AG also helped scuttle that Albertson's-Kroger deal so that's a good person to have on CSU's side.

CU, as required by the Big 12 bylaws at the time, was going to pay $14M to move to the Pac-12 but both sides settled for under $7M.  I have seen other conferences settle to about half if not less in those kind of negotiations so if the MWC was banking on getting more than half of that money, I sure hope the MWC has enough to cover for their promised payouts to UNLV & AFA.

10 games in and WVU is 8-2 under new coach Darian DeVries. That's pretty good. One more OOC game to go before it's all Big 12 play starting Jan. 4th.🏀  Let's Go Mountaineers!

I don't follow other teams like I used to but how many starters/contributors did WVU return from last season's team?

Has anybody heard from the SAC-12 lately or has they just burrowed into a hole of nothing, after learning they were snubbed in favor for UCD by the MW?

The Pac-12 has until June 30 of next year to invite & admit Sacramento State as a full member of the conference to meet its eight full member conference requirement.  The P12 can slow roll the process to make sure that Sac State is doing everything to get their facilities, infrastructure, and NIL up to par for the Pac-12.  What Sac State would be doing is skipping the lower rung G5 conferences for the higher end Pac-12 so the Pac-12 has reason to be extra diligent.

  8. LOL at those exit fees…they are merely a starting point for an eventual settlement of the final costs of leaving the conference.  CU didn’t even pay half of the Big 12 exit fees when they left for the PAC-12.  Nebraska didn’t pay the full exit fees for the Big 12 either.

Anyone trying to counterpoint me is wasting their time because the full exit fees are never really paid but a settlement.  Think closer to 35-40% in cases like that.

As has been pointed out, it’s only four road games a year in football.

I mentioned this elsewhere but I’ll reiterate it here, while it’s technically only four football away games per year, when factoring in that at least one, if not two, non-conference games will now be replaced with regional MAC teams instead of some longer road trip, the practical number is more like THREE AND A HALF (7 games every 2 years). Also, if things in college football continue down the path it looks like it’s heading, perhaps Toledo jumps on board in a few years. If that happens and the MW schedules guaranteed annual rivalry games so that Toledo is always on the docket then that practical number goes down from three and a half to only three road trips out west per year. So travel expenses won’t be so tough.

Lastly, I enjoy the irony from this “concern” coming from a fan of a team located in the middle of nowhere (relatively speaking) and whose travel expenses are now, and have likely always been, higher than anything centrally located NIU (and its convenient access to one of the largest airport hubs in the world) is likely to see.

    But thanks for your concern.

Funny I had a former NIU student and football fan as my roommate in college so I’m a little more familiar with NIU than most would be on this board.  He used to talk about how the Illini were afraid to visit the cornfields of DeKalb for a football game.

It’s going to be funny putting NIU in the MWC in the college football video game.

I haven’t watched NIU play for awhile but if I was to see a run heavy offense, it wouldn’t be a departure from what my college roommate said about the style of play for NIU.

    Dear UNLV,

It's not too late come with us.

Pac-12 would be a well respected conference.  Go undefeated in that conference plus winning 11 games like BSU did this year should guarantee a spot in the CFP.

And a phantom block in the back call.  I hate the Fighting Irish but they won that game.

CU still deserved it after beating the Pac-10 & SWC championship teams, tying the SEC championship team, and losing to the Big Ten championship team by one point on the road.

Name me one other national championship team that played a schedule that hard.  Throw me that fifth down game at Missouri and it doesn't matter because of how well CU played top competition that year.  CU won at Nebraska despite being down by 13 entering the 4th quarter in pouring & freezing cold rain in Lincoln.  Oklahoma was on probation that year but they still had a ton of talent on that roster and CU had to fight to win that one too.  That is six power conference teams who either won their conference or were capable of doing so and also that schedule had zero G5 teams on it.

If Idaho were wise, it would turn around and do the exact same thing to a D2 school like Harding. This is the new college football environment where this is and will continue to be common place. I'd say Marshall is in a tougher spot than Idaho.

But I remember you saying that Coach Eck would never consider leaving Idaho for Wyoming because he 'has bigger aspirations.' I guess I didn't ask you about New Mexico but that must have been the bigger aspiration you were alluding to.

Marshall in a tougher spot than Idaho?  Seriously?!?  Marshall is located right next to the Ohio State border and those Ohio high school kids plus they are not that far from PA and VA for recruiting.

No one in their right mind would go to Moscow ID over Huntington WV.

    Dumb move to add NIU.

Understand that they add nothing to the MW.

Not enough people watch them to make a dent in TV money.

Gosh darn, what is Gloria you always in the run now Nevarez thinking?

The WAC had Louisiana Tech for sometime but they are in the middle of nowhere in north Louisiana.  NIU is just a hour away from Chicago even if they are a little further east.  Chicago >>>>>>>>>>>>> Shreveport LA.

Hunter will play.  He actually does mostly represent what is right with college football.  His coach does not, but that's another discussion.

I believe this is what any Buff fan would say about Hunter compared to the Sanders trio.  We already had that nepotism with Dan Hawkins and his son Cody as the starting QB.  Shedeur Sanders was clearly a good QB but his son Shilo was a big liability on defense.  The Buffs D played very good when Shilo missed a few games and then regressed back to where they were with him back in the lineup.  I'm so glad Shilo cannot play another down for the Buffs...all he does is try to deliver the big hit and nothing else.  That is what excites me about next year's Buffs defense and they will have to carry the slack as the Buffs break in a new QB and a trio of starting WRs.

There are potential two-way players on almost every roster.  Not just WR/CB combo's but those are the least physical positions so that is where they most likely emerge.  However, most coaches will say hell no.  Most players will want to focus on one position.  It's not like it can't be done, just that it won't be done.

Not dissing Travis.  Solid player and an absolute ironman.  Just saying he's not the only one capable of doing it, he's the only one willing to do it.

I agree with you about WR/CB combos and Coach Prime is one coach that is willing to do that.  CU did a better job playing without Hunter this year when he was banged up for a half compared to last year where the Buffs struggled without Hunter when he missed time due to that hit from that CSU defender.  Going to be curious to see how Coach Prime uses Isaiah Hardge (17) next season.  He's a CB who was converted from a WR and he did play both positions a bit.

Travis not focusing on one position kept him from being elite at either.

Most teams competing for conference championships in the P4 won't want their best players playing both ways.  They will want them to dominate at one position because they have enough talent and depth at the other.

NFL GMs & executives have been saying that Hunter will most likely play CB in the NFL but still allowed to play some WR.  Very few opposing QBs dared throw his way and that is why his defensive stats aren't that great but he only gave up one receiving TD all season long.  He already set the receiving TD record at CU and the person who holds the receptions record (106 in one season) said that it amazes him that Hunter managed to have nearly 100 (had 92) receptions and nearly 1,200 (1,152) receiving yards which is a good season for a WR being focused on just playing WR when Hunter was playing both ways.  Hunter relied purely on his raw athleticism (last player with that kind of raw athleticism had to be Reggie Bush) to get those kind of receiving statistics and if he was focused on the offensive side, Lord only knows what he could have done.

And your last sentence there, the Buffs were deep at WR and that is why Hunter could play both ways.  Hunter really did step it up the last four games when Jimmy Horn (5) missed those games due to injury.  If you look at Hunter's game logs this season, there were three games that he didn't have his usual stats.  Two were blowout wins and Kansas State was the only one that really held him in check during a Buffs loss.

Too many people are blinded by their dislike of Coach Prime to actually see how amazing Travis Hunter was.
