I would not be shocked if it happens this year since China could do a naval blockade of Taiwan to prevent the Taiwanese from getting more US weapons. Could happen anytime. I recently watched some YouTube videos of how Taiwanese are preparing to resist the Chinese and even some Taiwanese soldiers said that Taiwan is not ready for a Chinese invasion. I don't want to sound pessimistic but I don't think Taiwan will last long during a Chinese invasion. They have half the population of Iraq and we sacked that country in three weeks back in 2003.

MW - Pac-12 merger still possible for greater media value and money
Bison replied to Wolf from 73's topic in Sports Forum
So the PAC still hasn't gotten a media rights deal finalized and we are now two and a half months away from June 30th. Still courting Texas State? -
The South China Sea and the Malacca Straits are much bigger WW3 flashpoints than Taiwan. Keeping those shipping lanes open and free are very important to global shipping. My father, who works within the defense industry, was freaking out when I was visiting the Philippines on a church mission (also visited Hong Kong) because the US military was on a higher alert level at that time. That was 2017 and I do not think I'd be heading that way if China takes Taiwan because they would be turning their focus more to the South China Sea. Hope you stay safe on your travels if you choose to do that.

That is what I have read and specifically what would happen to all of those TSMC foundries. The US Air Force would take them all out as to make sure they don't fall into China's hands. What's notable is that AMD and Nvidia announced today that they will be using TSMC's Phoenix AZ facilities for their next chips. Apple already has an agreement with TSMC Arizona for their chips as well. With TSMC shifting all of that production to Arizona with Apple, Intel, AMD, and Nvidia; I am not as confident as the US coming to Taiwan's defense. What else is there besides computer chips for the world?

Could happen after the 2026 US elections. The US is hosting next year's World Cup along Canada & Mexico so I'm not sure if China would make a move until after the elections next year at the earliest. But trade wars and economic wars are usually fought before an actual war. China is not backing down because that means the US leaves China which means China can focus its industrial might on a war effort. But the tariff wars could really speed up the timetable of a Chinese invasion of Taiwan. Whether this affects China's ability to take over Taiwan remains to be seen. When the international order is being shifted, it seems like there always have been wars. The English sank the Spanish armada and then became the #1 economy in the world in like the late 1500s. Right now I say the international order is being re-arranged and while you and I would prefer that a war between China and the US doesn't happen, the odds of that war happening is higher than it not happening. That is if we can get to those portable landing docks. That means getting past that Chinese naval blockade surrounding Taiwan and the Chinese air force. Taiwan's air force isn't going to last long in this case and they could decide not to use it. On paper I agree that we should beat China's military but you are leaving out the drones. China can easily make a lot of drones and overwhelm Taiwan's resistance to a point where Taiwan's soldiers would question whether it is in their best efforts to continue fighting and China has been putting a lot of effort into bribing Taiwanese soldiers to put their arms down. The industrial might of the US during WW2 was a big deciding factor in the outcome of that war. The US does have the advantage of tonnage when it comes to the navies but the Chinese already have more boats and in the history of most wars, whoever has the most boats tends to win the war.

Saw an article talking about how the US knew a Russian invasion of Ukraine was going to happen and one give away was the blood supplies for the frontline were moved closer to Ukraine. You don't move blood just for any reason. China Suddenly Building Fleet Of Special Barges Suitable For Taiwan Landings - Naval News Now China is building a fleet of special barges that will help their tanks, vehicles, etc land on Taiwan coastlines. Think of them as portable loading docks. And now we have this escalating trade war between China and the US. South Korea & Japan also announced a new trade deal with China where they would respond to US tariffs. The only question is when China moves on Taiwan. People have been saying 2027 but that date is certainly moving up.

Those telehealth sessions are probably training those AI doctors at the same time. My HMO is starting to include AI in certain cases and it's only a matter of time before this becomes the new norm for certain cases.

Kaidon Salter (transfer from Liberty) appears to have the inside track to QB1 over Julian Lewis (JuJu). I'm curious to see what NFL HOFer (and Aztec legend) Marshall Faulk can do with the CU RBs. We are replacing all our starting WRs but that room is not devoid of talent. It's just going to be hard to replace Travis Hunter at WR. CU's spring game is next week on ESPN2.

Demolition would take 10 months? I guess Hawaii operates on a different time standard than the rest of the country LOL.

Elon Musk has mentioned UBI especially if AI and humanoids replace humans in the labor force. And also if we need to be largely re-trained for new job opportunities...something that I think would be less stressful to do. It almost sounds like it is inevitable.

I'm a diabetic myself and you pretty much only need to have your bloodwork done to determine whether you have diabetes or not. That same AI robot could give you guidelines on how to improve your blood sugar levels to your HMO app. That's basically what diabetic doctors would tell you. It really comes down to your lifestyle and eating habits. Let's say you have a bad cold or even pneumonia, you could tell your HMO app that you are coughing your head off and it can tell you to go get an X-ray, have those x-rays analyzed and the AI doctor would just give you anti-biotics and send you on your merry way home. I haven't gone to the doctor every time I have a cold because I know that if I went to the grocery store to get natural antibiotics from blueberries, raspberries, strawberries...basically mixed berries, they are much stronger antibodies than what the doctor's office would provide you. Works great. $2.00 copays compared to $20 copays for those simple things doesn't sound so bad. Just imagine how much more your doctor would be available as a result. This could be very good for rural healthcare where doctors aren't going to always be available. AI doctors would be good for routine things like that. When it comes to broken bones, torn muscles, etc; you would still see your doctor. When it comes to judging whether you need painkillers or not, you'd see your doctor. My asthma just took a turn for the worse and I'm having weekly doctor's appointments to monitor my oxygen levels to see if I still need to have an oxygen tank with me. That is a situation where a doctor (not an AI doctor) would be used especially if the need to apply for disability has to be considered. We are headed down this path anyway due to the shortage of health workers and the need to take care of those aging baby boomers. What people need to learn the basics of how eating certain fruits and vegetables would be good for overcoming simple respiratory illnesses such as the common cold. There are others that could help with blood pressure and other common ailments. I don't recall this kind of stuff being taught in high schools and I'm thinking big pharma has done an excellent job in keeping that information out of schools.

Big 12 was a strong basketball conference before BYU joined. Big 12 owes BYU nothing.
