In the NIL era, that talent identification process is super important for non-P4 schools. It's probably one of Baby Pitino's and his staff's greatest strengths. If he stays, I think it's also a reminder that you really have to have an A,B,C,D plan with portal recruiting and have strict deadlines and timelines relative to the portal while moving through those options. Even if you have attachment to the kids as a player/coach, the majority of the high profile players are attached to scumbag pseudo agents and parasites of all sorts. Imo, you have to move on from kids if they don't honor those deadlines to sign. It sucks, but it's the world we're in.

Keep an eye on Xavier and Villanova, but yeah I think it's possible Pitino gets a nice pay bump and comes back. Dent is a great, great player, but I'm not sure given his style of play if physically he would hold up playing a Big East, SEC, Big10 conference schedule week after week after week. Next couple of weeks will be interesting for sure.

Within 10 minutes of the game ending, four friends of mine who are college hoops fans, but not Lobo fans all texted me variations of that same sentiment. The officiating was that bad. One guy even hates UNM. It will be interesting to see what happens with Dent and Pitino. Obviously money talks, but fit matters as well.

Tbh, I felt quietly confident about the matchup with Marquette. They were a team that was really trending down, with streaky shooters and no post presence. Had Dent not had his worst half of the year in the first half, I think they actually roll Marquette. That win wasn't a fluke. MSU, is an entirely different animal, depth wise, athlete wise, size wise, and coaching wise. Something a little flukey probably needs to happen tomorrow, but here's hoping 🍺
